Robert Karlsson and Trevor Immelman will both miss the final tune-up for the 2009 British Open after the duo withdrew from the forthcoming Scottish Open with injuries.
Immelmans absence from the tournament comes as no surprise. The 2008 US Masters winner has been struggling to overcome tendonitis in his wrist, and missed the US Open at Bethpage Park. He remains hopeful of competing in the British Open later in the month.
Robert Karlsson, meanwhile, has been afflicted with a build up of liquid behind the retina of his right eye. Last years European number one is therefore suffering from blurred vision, and is also having problems with his balance.
“He really wants to play and we haven’t withdrawn him yet but it is not looking hopeful,” Karlsson’s manager Lillian Jansson told Reuters on Saturday. “The eye is getting better only very slowly. He needs at least two or three days practice before the Open and it looks like there’s a danger he won’t be able to do that.”
