Cabrerea takes the lead after 2nd round
After finishing the first day of the 2008 Scottish Open in second place, 2007 US Open champion Angel Cabrera surged into the lead on the second day of play.
Cabrera always looked menacing lurking in second place, one shot behind 1st round leaders Thongchai Jaidee and Alexander Noren. The Argentinean made the most of his platform by carding a 2nd round 68 to put himself on 9 under par for the tournament.
Cabrera’s effort gave him a one shot lead over Ireland’s Damien McGraine. Another four golfers are positioned 3 shots off the lead, including first round leader Thongchai Jaidee, who shot par on his second day at the 2008 Scottish Open.
The chasing pack placed in 3rd includes local player and 1999 Open Champion, Paul Lawrie, who carded a 2nd round 67 which included two birdies and an eagle on the par three 13th hole.
Phil Mickelson performed well on the second day of the 2008 Scottish Open, scoring a hole-in-one at the par 3 fifth hole for a round of 67. Mickelson is currently tied for 27th place alongside the two other top 10 golfers participating in the event, Ernie Els and Adam Scott.
