Strong field for 2008 Scottish Open

Posted on by godadnet

A strong field will line up when the 2008 Scottish Open tees of tomorrow at Loch Lomond golf course. This is in contrast to previous years where many of the top players in the world headed to links courses in Ireland and Scotland to prepare for the Open Championship links courses.

Rocco Mediate recently made golf headlines by entering the event, alongside regular participant Phil Mickelson. The tournament is also set to feature the talents of a host of Europe’s form players, with 3 of the world’s top 6 golfers in attendance.

While Mickelson is deserved favourite, having recently won in Fort Worth, Lee Westwood of England, and Denmark’s Soren Hansen look to be the strongest of the European contenders. Both have been making appearances in the top of tournaments into something of a routine, and are poised to convert form into a win in a big event.

The 2008 Scottish Open will also feature the talents of South Africa’s Ernie Els, who has found Loch Lomond to be a happy hunting ground in the past. Els has two Scottish Open titles to his credit, and is a tough contender to ignore even though his form has fluctuated wildly during the season.
